Membership Categories and Annual Dues
APHA membership includes online access and monthly print issues of the American Journal of Public Health and The Nation's Health. Members also receive substantial discounts at APHA's Annual Meeting. Additional benefits are listed where applicable.
Open to health professionals, other career workers in the health field and any persons interested in public health.
Individuals whose annual salary is less than $45,000 USD or the equivalent for foreign nationals receive a discount on Regular Membership (formerly Special Health Worker membership). Proof of status is required annually.

Person who has retired and no longer derives income from current work-related activities. Declaration of status is required annually.
Yes, I meet the requirements and qualify for Retired membership.
Person who graduated in the last 24 months and is transitioning into the workforce. This member type is available for three consecutive years. Proof of status is required annually.
Individual must be enrolled in a degree-seeking program. Qualifying student should be taking at least 6 credit hours (undergraduate degree) or 3 credit hours (graduate degree) per semester or comparable credits in a quarter system. Student membership is available for up to six years per degree. Proof of status is required annually.
Green Discount
Save $20 when you choose online-only access to the American Journal of Public Health (AJPH). With this discount, you will no longer receive a print copy of AJPH. You will still have full online access to AJPH including the new e-reader. The $20 deduction will appear on the confirmation page.
    Yes, I'd like to use the green discount and have online-only access to AJPH.
The green discount must be selected annually. The discount applies to the full twelve months of your membership. If, at any time, you decide to discontinue the green discount and receive print AJPH, the full $20 will be due regardless of the number of months remaining in your membership. If, during your membership, you want to stop receiving print AJPH, the change will be made in your record however the green discount will not be provided. Please contact the Membership department at to make any changes.

Membership dues for the American Public Health Association® are not deductible as a charitable contribution, but may be deductible as an ordinary and necessary business expense. Membership is nonrefundable and nontransferable. APHA policy provides that all individual members have equal eligibility and responsibility for full participation in the programs of the Association.
